The Lawless Firm

Swing Jazz and BEYOND!

Michael Dunn is a pioneer of the Django Reinhardt style of music now called 'Gypsy Jazz'. He founded one of the earliest groups to play in this style in Canada, 'Mystery Pacific' circa 1976. He has played and founded many groups since including 'The Hot Club of Mars.' Since the late 60's, he has been a professional luthier whose specialty became the making of 1930's French Jazz guitars that are used throughout the Gypsy Jazz world.

Edgar Bridwell was born in Illinois but has lived in BC and Montreal most of his life. He started violin when he was five years old. He has played, recorded and toured internationally with several Swing and Rockabilly bands. He was a violinist for the late Ray Condo and although you wouldn't know it from our music, he plays Baroque violin in early music groups.

Eleanore Dunn is married to Michael Dunn, and inevitably has been caught up in music. She has been studying voice for a number of years with Vancouver's finest, and has learned to play the quatro - a South American Ukulele variant with the help of MIchael. She has truly blossomed with the  opportunity  to perform with the fine musicians of The Lawless Firm, and adds superbly to their refined sound!

Joe Bourchier was born and raised in B.C. and began teaching himself guitar at the age of 13. He went on to perform with rock, blues and country bands through the 1970s and 1980s and completed a music degree from the University of Victoria in 1987.

Pursuing Jazz studies in the 1990s, Joe holds down the bottom end with the Just Jazz Quartet, The Hot Club of Mars and many other Vancouver groups
